Consistency + Balance = Success

So here we are, almost to the middle of March and I have yet to post a single yoga pose on the gram. I’d like to tell you that even though I haven’t posted on Instagram, that I’ve been consistent with my daily home practice… but that would be a lie. Before we go into self-bashing, let’s pause. Consistency is important, but so is balance.

The day I planned to start my yoga challenge, Aunt Flo made a surprise visit. Just an FYI, I’ve been tracking my cycles for a while now, so having a surprise monthly gift isn’t usual for me. Aside from that, I’ve also been exercising more regularly which leaves little energy to devote to yoga. So, toss those two things into my crazy day-to-day and I can imagine that you’d start to see how yoga can fall by the wayside.

I’m not upset though, because balance is necessary. Sometimes I get so wrapped up in trying to do one thing, that I begin to neglect other areas of my life. While striving for consistency is honorable, so too is striving for balance. Balance for me means that my hour workout is good enough and that instead of trying to drag myself to my yoga mat, I’ll enjoy family time with my hubby and 5-month-old son. It means that the hours of online coursework I’ve done is enough staring at screens for one day, and the blog post will get published tomorrow.  Finding balance means cutting yourself some slack sometimes and I’m okay with that, naturally.

Does this mean the yoga challenge is over?

Heck no!

In fact, I’ll be on my mat tonight.
